Chandler’s City Council has approved a pilot program that will allow fiberoptic cable in parts of the city with purportedly less surface damage than traditionally occurs.
Kevin Snyder, the city’s development services director, told council about Crown Castle Fiber’s three-year microtrenching pilot program at an Oct. 14 work session. Snyder said exact locations for the program haven’t been determined yet, but it will only take place on “local and collector streets,” rather than arterial streets like Arizona Avenue.
“We will be monitoring it regularly,” Snyder said. “We’ll be examining all the microtrenching technology they introduce.”
