Domestic Violence Awareness Month will be recognized with a candlelight vigil Monday at Chandler City Hall.
City hall will be lit purple, and those who attend will hold candles at the event, which begins at 6 p.m. Oct. 2.
Speakers include Chandler Councilmember Christine Ellis, El Mirage Councilmember Anita Norton and Tolleson Vice Mayor Lupe Bandin, all of whom serve on the Maricopa Association of Governments Regional Domestic Violence Council.

One in three women and one in four men in the United States have experienced some form of physical violence from an intimate partner in their lifetime, according to a city release.
“The Maricopa Association of Governments Regional Domestic Violence Council provides a forum for coordinated action to address, prevent and eradicate domestic violence in our communities,” the release stated.
