Chandler celebrates 250th with history, fun for kids

When Jody Crago spoke about Betsy Ross becoming a widow in her mid-20s during a June 2 presentation, he added as much historical context to the death of John Ross as he could think of.

That’s how Crago, the director of the Chandler Museum, tries to deliver all his historical presentations. And with America’s 250th birthday in full swing, history and presentations are at the forefront of how Chandler’s acknowledging the occasion.

With June and July being too warm to plan many outdoor daytime events and with Chandler typically merging into the July 4 celebrations in neighboring East Valley communities, there are still a handful of special events planned in the city this year before July 4.
