Chandler canal to receive historic landmark designation

Goodyear was name of cotton-farming settlement southwest of Chandler

There is more than one Goodyear in the Valley.

At a recent meeting, the Chandler City Council approved a new designation for the eastern one.

At its June 15 meeting, the Chandler City Council tentatively approved an ordinance that creates the Goodyear Canal Historic Preservation District Landmark zoning overlay. That will allow the city to take over the historic canal.
