Chandler board members discuss, quarrel over superintendent search

Chandler Unified’s search for a new leader took a brief side detour during a Governing Board meeting, though it also seems to have mostly regained its focus.

Even before the CUSD board reached its information-only item on its superintendent search during its Nov. 12 meeting, a board member was called out three times for showing up to a community forum used to collect Chandler input in hiring the next leader.

Staff from the search firm HYA, or Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates, came from the Chicago area to Chandler to talk with community members as it puts together what it calls a leadership profile. Lead Associate John Bash and two other HYA associates then attended the Nov. 12 CUSD board meeting via a video call.
