When Sammy Chagolla was appointed principal to Peoria High School during a school board meeting earlier this month, there were plenty of tears shed and many thanks given.
In a packed governing board room on Feb. 13 with many dressed in the green and gold of Peoria High, Chagolla gave a heartfelt and emotional speech as he held back tears after unanimously being approved as principal following a period of turmoil at the school.
With the approval came a standing ovation from both the audience and the governing board.
