For about two months after their 5A boys basketball final loss to Tucson Catalina Foothills, Centennial boys basketball players stewed or played with their club teams.
The nature of the loss, more than the fact the Coyotes lost, was the cause of their frustration. Centennial never led March 20 and was outscored in every quarter, never seriously challenging the Falcons after winning 16 straight games to reach the first final in program history.
“We’ve come back looking for vengeance from last year. We went to state but didn’t play very good,” rising senior guard Jake Lifgren said. “We know we can go back because we have a lot of guys coming back.”
