Cell phone coverage returns to council purview as Paradise Valley recommits to improving coverage

“Can you hear me now?” It’s an outdated cell phone commercial but a lingering question within the Town of Paradise Valley all these years later, where gaps in cell phone coverage remain.

On Sept. 8, the Paradise Valley Town Council held a discussion about town facilitated cell coverage applications to close the gaps in coverage.

The topic of spotty cell phone coverage dates back several years and is a well-known issue among residents. It’s not uncommon to lose signal or drop a call across the various parts of town as the mountainous terrain poses interruptions in coverage and the town has sought to avoid large, unsightly cell phone towers. Instead, the town has studied how to conceal cell phone tower sites inside already established structures, like houses of worship and the resorts.
