This year there are two Democratic candidates on the ballot in Congressional District 8, what has been a reliable Republican district in the past.
Bernadette Greene-Placentia and Ray Keeler hope to unseat Republican Rep. Abe Hamadeh in the Nov. 3 general election. But first they will have to battle each other in the July 21 primary. The duo debated who would should best represent the part in the general election during a debate Monday, June 15.
CD 8 is in the Northwest Valley, mainly covers Peoria, Sun City, Sun City West, Glendale, Surprise, and parts of Phoenix. The district also extends north to include New River and surrounding areas near Lake Pleasant.
