Cave Creek officials consider bond election to acquire 4,005 acres of land

The Cave Creek Town Council is expected to consider whether to have a bond election to buy about 4,000 acres near the Spur Cross Conservation Area.

On Monday, the council voted 7-0 to extend the intergovernmental agreement with the Arizona State Land Department to purchase the 4,005 acres via land auction.

An extended agreement with the Arizona State Land Department allows town officials to have a 20-year window to be able to petition the state to put open space land up for auction, said Luke Kautzman, director of development services with the town of Cave Creek.
