Guests visiting The Finer Arts Gallery will notice a new look as they enter the 4,000-square-foot gallery in Cave Creek.

As part of the gallery’s six-month rotation, dozens of artists recently switched out older art for new work. In addition, some of the interior walls were rearranged to make room for several new artists, according to a press release.

To celebrate, the gallery is hosting a special “Fresh Perspectives” event from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 21. The unique gallery is located inside the historic Treehouse building, 6137 E. Cave Creek Road, in Cave Creek.

“Each time we rotate art, we feel like we’re opening a new gallery,” said Scottsdale resident Pat Isaacson, a talented glass artist and one of the gallery’s eight co-owners. “It’s a fun, creative endeavor that helps us bring new, positive energy to our gallery space.”

Landscape painter Linda Lindus, also a gallery co-owner and Scottsdale resident, said The Finer Arts Gallery focuses exclusively on Arizona professional artists, all of whom are juried prior to offering a space in the gallery.

“Many of our artists are renowned nationally,” Lindus said, adding that the gallery represents close to 50 artists. “We represent a diverse mix, which fits in perfectly with the charm of our eclectic town.”

A chance to meet new artists

The Finer Arts Gallery is also welcoming eight new artists in July, including mixed media artist Judith Rothenstein-Putzer and ceramic artist Sarah Byrne, both of Scottsdale.

Rothenstein-Putzer has been putting a new spin on her love of photography by creating alcohol transfers with pen and ink. Her mixed media technique is a hybrid between printmaking and photography, the press release stated. She will exhibit a variety of bright, colorful florals as well as a few small works from her “Central Market” series, which she started in 2021 in response to the impact COVID-19 had on the way she approached her artwork.

“Much of my artwork is travel inspired; however, with my wanderlust curtailed I’ve spent much of the last two years going through images from tours through many of the wonderful markets, bazaars and souks from around the world. I was drawn to the wide array of colors and shapes and juxtapositions of all that I saw before me. Using my mixed-media/alcohol transfer technique, some images have been very representational, while others quite abstract,” Rothenstein-Putzer said.

Colors and shapes also influence Sarah Byrne, a ceramic artist who finds inspiration in nature and the beauty of the Sonoran Desert.

“My work reflects the joy I find in creating art that is durable and can be used in everyday life,” Byrne said. “I can have a goal in mind when I start working, but the clay will often dictate the final piece. The joy for me is in discovering what the piece of clay wants to be and finding a way to bring that forward.”

Sometimes she is surprised at the way clay can seem to defy gravity.

“I love the kinesthetic energy of working with clay and I am often amazed at the way that clay can bend beyond its limits and be used to create intricate sculpture,” she said.

Visitors to The Finer Arts Gallery will find diverse paintings, drawings, sculpture, mixed media, photography, glass, wood, fiber, ceramics, jewelry, and other original work. For details, call 480-488-2923 or visit www.thefinerartsgallery.com.
