Castle Hot Springs recognized by Condé Nast Traveler in reader's choice award

Arizona’s wellness-driven resort destination once again listed among top destination spas in the U.S.

Condé Nast Traveler announced the results of its annual Readers’ Choice Awards with Arizona’s 1,100-acre Castle Hot Springs recognized as one of the best destination spa resorts in the U.S.

The award-winning wellness resort was previously recognized as one of Condé Nast Traveler’s Reader’s Choice Awards’ Top Resort Spa Destinations in 2021.

Castle Hot Springs is a one-of-a-kind wellness retreat that defies convention by prioritizing nature over fabricated amenities, according to a news releease.

Nestled in serene surroundings, this tranquil luxury oasis offers immersive outdoor wellness experiences combined with regenerative soaking in mineral-rich hot springs, allowing guests to connect with nature, history, and each other.

At the epicenter of the majestic property are the magnificent thermal hot springs. The waters paint the land with a spectrum of hues reflective of the minerals (e.g. lithium, copper, and iron) running through them.

Originally established in the late 19th century as the state’s first luxury ‘spa’ resort destination during a time when doctors were prescribing trips to the region as a “tonic for their patients’ troubles,” the resort’s original developer – Arizonan entrepreneur Frank M. Murphy – quickly capitalized on this trend of travelers to create a hot springs destination that would rival the world-renowned geothermal waters of Bath, England.

“We are deeply honored to receive the prestigious recognition,” said
Kevin Maguire, general manager at Castle Hot Springs. "The property encapsulates mineral-rich hot springs and on-site regenerative farming supporting an extensive culinary experience, all within a luxurious healing environment. This, combined with our commitment to wellness and the unique relationship between our guests and the captivating wonders of the Sonoran Desert, provided a perfect backdrop for our new yoga and wellness retreats.”

The wellness experience at Castle Hot Springs draws inspiration from the land and the healing waters of the natural hot springs. The word “SPA” dates back to Roman times, originating from the Latin phrase, ‘Salus Per Aquam,’ or “healing through water.” Taking a cue from these communities that sought out the thermal waters to alleviate a number of maladies, Castle Hot Springs carries this philosophy of ‘wellness through water’ into methods including promoting a relaxing pre-soak or devising a customized Watsu treatment where the therapist joins the guests in the water.

Wellness through water provides a new way for guests to immerse themselves further with the environment. The naturally occurring minerals within the water are a crucial element throughout a stay and a natural conduit for guests to connect and restore by maximizing the benefits of the hot springs. The unique mineral mixture – particularly rich in Lithium (the ‘feel good’ mineral), Magnesium, and Bicarbonates are said to help lift your mood, ease sore muscles, calm your mind, and even aid in peaceful slumber.
