A Casa Ramos restaurant may be constructed at the site of a building that burned at 1526 E. Main St. with a substantial conformance improvement permit, the Mesa Board of Adjustment decided Wednesday.
The applicant, Justin Pasternak, plans to reconstruct a 5,630-square-foot restaurant building within the footprint of one that was destroyed.
“This request would allow deviations to the development standards for the redevelopment of a restaurant. So early in February 2020, a restaurant on this site burned down and so this proposal is to reconstruct that restaurant within the footprint of the previous building,” Mesa Planner Charlotte Bridges said at an April 7 study session for the board. “The building obviously has been removed; there is existing asphalt drives and parking on the site, but most of that will be redeveloped as part of this project.”
