A request to modify the front yard setback requirement for a home in Fountain of the Sun is to be discussed June 2 by the Mesa Board of Adjustment.
Gary Evensen, applicant and owner, is requesting to modify an existing planned-area development to reduce the required front yard setback for carports and garages from 20 feet to 15 feet 10 inches at 8311 E. Fay Ave.
“We want to enclose the carport, but the length of the carport of 18 feet is not sufficient to park a full-size vehicle,” Gary and Linda Evensen said in a justification/compatibility statement. “There are several houses in our Fountain of the Sun community that have a 17-foot setback.”
