Carlene Ledyard of Concord, MI; went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 3, 2017. She was born on Dec. 9, 1941 in Kendalville, IN, to Carl and Eleanor Slaymaker. Carlene met her life partner, Phil, at Centreville H.S. (MI) where she graduated in 1959, going on to also graduate from the Foote Hospital School of Nursing in Jackson, MI, in 1962. Married for 54 years, they raised three children while living in Concord. Carlene worked as a Registered Nurse at the W.A. Foote Memorial Hospital; Albion Community Hospital and Spring Arbor College. She had a loving, giving heart that resulted in a wide circle of friends. Carlene loved teaching Bible lessons to young children, working with church high school Bible quiz teams, gardening, sewing, camping and working on volunteer mission projects with her husband. They served many outreach ministries while living full time in an RV.Carlene is survived by Phil, her children Elizabeth Ledyard, Mark Ledyard (Ginna Reid), Leslie Veen and brother William Slaymaker.Memorial services will be held in Sun City, AZ and Albion, MI.Memorial gifts may be made in her honor to a mission ministry and/or the March of Dimes.
