Carl Maggio

SONORA, Calif. - Carl Maggio passed away on Feb. 6, 2017, at the home of his daughter, Carlene.Carl was born on Sept. 12, 1929, to parents, Beatriz and Anthony Maggio, and he grew up in El Centro, Calif., and Los Angeles, Calif., with his one brother, Anthony.As a young adult, he entered the family produce business, which was his career until he retired. He married, Mercedes Jaramillo, in 1956 and moved to King City, Calif., shortly after, where they started their family. He lived in the Salinas Valley, until retirement in the 1980's, and then moved to Scottsdale, with second wife, Carole. Carl lived life to the fullest and was outgoing and gregarious. He was quick with one-liners and loved to make people smile. He loved golf, foreign languages, telling jokes, and most of all, his large extended Italian family. He is preceded in death by his father, Tony Maggio; his mother, Beatriz "Tichy" Maggio; and his brother, Tony Maggio.He is survived by his kids, Carlene Maggio and husband, Eric Runte, Anthony Maggio and wife, Kim, and Mary Maggio and husband, Peter Coelho; grandchildren are, Geo Coelho, Sophie Coelho, Simon Coelho, Carly Coelho, Jackson Runte, Abby Runte, Gabe Runte, Amanda Maggio, Carmelo Maggio, and Nicholas Maggio.Carl's life was long and happy, and his exit was peaceful. He will be dearly missed.A memorial service will be held in Hollister, Calif., at St. Benedict's Catholic Church at 2 p.m., on Mar. 11, 2017, with reception after.
