The Arizona Cardinals aren’t playing on Thanksgiving, but given their history of Turkey Day play, that may not be a bad thing.
The Cardinals haven’t appeared in a Thanksgiving game since 2008, which was the same year they reached the Super Bowl with a late-season surge to thrill Cardinal Nation.
That Thanksgiving, the team was drubbed in the night game, 48-20, against the Eagles in Philadelphia. The holiday loss came during a tough stretch that saw the Cardinals go 1-4 late in the season, capped by their 47-7 loss to the Patriots in New England, looking at that point like anything but a Super Bowl contender.
