The Arizona Cardinals look to clinch a playoff berth and snap their first losing streak of the year in a nationally-televised Christmas game from Glendale on Saturday.
The Indianapolis Colts, who have won five of six, arrive in a rare wet and rainy Valley to take on the Cardinals, losers of four of seven, for an evening matchup that gets under way with a Christmas Night 6:15 p.m. kickoff. The Valley saw rainfall on Christmas Day two years ago, but it had been a decade before that since measurable rain fell on Phoenix on Christmas, according to the National Weather Service.
The Cardinals are hoping the rarity this weekend brings better luck than they’ve had at home at State Farm Stadium. Despite being in a tie with the Los Angeles Rams atop the NFC West, the Cards have lost three straight at home and five of their last nine in Glendale going back to last season.
