A current Arizona Cardinals offensive lineman and a former major league baseball player are teaming to fight hunger with their second annual competition at fundraising for food banks in Arizona and Chicago.

Cardinals offensive lineman Kelvin Beachum and MLB All-Star Curtis Granderson  are behind the effort.

Beachum will rally his community in support of United Food Bank in Arizona. Granderson will raise funds for the Greater Chicago Food Depository and the Northern Illinois Food Bank in Chicago.

The athlete who raises the most funds throughout November will be crowned the winner. Granderson won last year's competition.

“Every step we take to support those battling food insecurity brings us closer to ending hunger; one neighborhood, one family, and one meal at a time," Beachum said the a release.

Beachum will hold a Thanksgiving food distribution on Nov. 18, teaming with Cardinals teammate Paris Johnson Jr.  for Mesa Public School families in partnership with United Food Bank. This distribution will be held 2:30–4:30 p.m., or until food runs out at the Eisenhower Center for Innovation, 848 N. Mesa Dr. in Mesa. Limit three families per car.

Last year’s campaign helped feed thousands of Arizonans and we are grateful to Beachum, Granderson and the fans who will help us in the fight against hunger in the United States," said Jason Reed, CEO of United Food Bank, in the release.

Arizonans can visit the participating Raising Cane’s location each Tuesday and have a portion of their meal support United Food Bank and Team Beachum. You must mention Team Beachum and the campaign or use the code RCFUND96 for online orders. Participating Raising Cane’s locations include:

  • 11/18 – 1781 E. Warner Rd. Tempe, AZ 85284
