A man was taken into custody Monday after a chase that began at the Mesa-Tempe border and ended in Scottsdale, authorities said.

Mesa police attempted to stop a vehicle that was reported stolen on Sept. 11 near Broadway and Valencia near the border of Mesa and Tempe.

The driver sped away and traveled through Tempe and Scottsdale, police said.

Officers tried to follow, but the Mesa Police Air Unit spotted the vehicle, and officers on the ground backed off, according to police.

The driver stopped in Scottsdale, and a man got out and went into a business before being taken into custody a few minutes later, police said.

Mesa police said there did not appear to be any injuries, and an investigation was taking place on Monday.
