CAP Canal leak found before reaching ‘extreme risk’

Officials: Repair complete, canal being refilled

There was a breach in the Central Arizona Project canal that led to decreased water levels at Lake Pleasant, but officials say repairs were completed March 12, and the canal and lake are now being refilled.

Officials added the leak posed an “immediate and serious threat” and estimate the repair at about $1 million.

It’s unclear how much water was lost.
