Cancer support group meets monthly at Joy Bus Diner in Phoenix

Posted

ChimaSol Journeys, a Phoenix-based organization created by Jessica Knight, has partnered with The Joy Bus to launch a free monthly cancer support group at The Joy Bus Diner, 10401 N. 32nd St.

The group meets 6-8 p.m. on the first Wednesday of every month and is designed to create a welcoming place for women navigating cancer to connect, learn and feel supported.

“This is intentionally a little different from a traditional cancer support group,” stated Knight. “In addition to honest conversation and peer connection, each month we plan to bring in local experts and offer experiences around topics such as oncology, nutrition and cancer, integrative medicine, acupuncture, emotional wellness, meditation, yoga, sound healing, caregiver support and more.”

The idea grew from something that has become important to Knight through her own cancer journey: “women need support beyond the clinic.”

“Sometimes what you need most is simply to sit across the table from someone who understands what you’re going through without having to explain it,” she stated.

Knight added that philosophy is also what makes partnering with The Joy Bus feel so natural: “Both of our organizations believe deeply in caring for people affected by cancer and creating connection through community.”

Each gathering will include guest speakers, wellness education, healing experiences and conversation.
