Cannabis Clemency

Campaign with Tempe dispensary highlights state of cannabis criminal justice reform

Arizona ranks low among states that have made strides in cannabis decriminalization efforts, even after the legalization of adult use, with one Tempe dispensary launching a campaign to bring attention to the challenging journey to clemency.

Cookies and The Last Prisoner Project partnered for the #FreeRobertDeals campaign as a means to pressure Gov. Katie Hobbs and the Arizona Board of Executive Clemency to grant the release of Robert Deals, an Air Force veteran imprisoned in a Yuma prison for cannabis-related charges.

Headquartered in San Francisco, Cookies was co-founded by CEO Berner, who has worked with Last Prisoner Project on previous campaigns to promote cannabis criminal justice reform.
