Those behind the effort to recall Scottsdale City Councilwoman Jan Dubausks have suspended their efforts until possibly after the Nov. 3 general election.
“Over the past three months, thousands of Scottsdale residents signed the recall petition,” the group Conservatives of Greater Scottsdale, said in a press release dated Aug. 26.
“Unfortunately, we will fall short of the required number of signatures and desired cushion by the September 2 deadline. The primary reason is manpower. Despite commitments of well into six figures to fund the effort, we could not find a professional signature-gathering firm willing to take on the campaign during the summer. Whether that decision was influenced by political pressure from others, including Jan Dubauskas, remains unclear. Therefore, we are suspending the recall campaign.”
