Calophos: Snowbirds, get out of the way on Arizona’s crowded roads

Don’t hide it. Seniors beware. I am 69 years old and have been a permanent resident of the Phoenix area for 38 years so please pay attention to the following.

Due to the huge influx of snowbirds this season and the overwhelming influx of climate-displaced families, the traffic in this Valley has become choking. It’s OK when our winter visitors aren’t here.

Yes, it is too much for the infrastructure. It is frustrating to the regular residents. But the thing that escalates frustration into anger and action is that old people my age seem to be determined to drive our 40 to 50 mph streets at their leisurely 33 to 37 mph.

This is not acceptable here. It is not in the flow of traffic and causes accidents.

As a 38-year full-time resident, allow me to enhance your survival.

We are all engaged in productive endeavors which do not allow for your slow cruise around the town. This is not the San Diego beachfront drive.

This is 0-47 at every stop light, and if you are not comfortable with that then keep your car in the garage or carport and stay out of our way. Or speed up!
