Cactus survives 3 overtime thriller at Sunrise Mountain

Cobras wins 48-45 against resilient Mustangs

Cactus and Sunrise Mountain emptied their arsenals in a wild final 16 minutes of regulation and three overtimes Friday night in Peoria.

The Mustangs scored to tie the contest at 14 with 3:02 remaining in the third quarter. By the time the dust settled, an exhausted Cactus squad could celebrate a 48-45 win.

After Sunrise Mountain decided to attempt a field goal on fourth and goal from the 1 and sophomore Anthony Bittle hit the 18 yarder, Cactus had an opening in the third overtime. Showing an unusual formation, junior receiver/cornerback Nikko Boncore-Montoya to take the direct snap  and hand off to junior receiver Juju Stubblefield for a winning three-yard touchdown run on a sweep.
