CAC announces middle school math contest winners

Eleven middle schools from across Pinal County -- from Superior to Maricopa – took part in Central Arizona College’s Math Department 17th Annual Pinal County Middle School Math Contest.

The competition took place at the Signal Peak Campus in Coolidge. Students competed in both individual and team competitions. In total, 110 students participated in the event, according to a press release.

Winners represented schools in the Florence Unified School District, the J.O. Combs Unified School District and the Maricopa Unified School District.

The winners are:

Team competition

First place: Zane Noga and Jenesis Arias, Circle Cross Ranch S.T.E.M. Academy K-8, San Tan Valley

Second place: Emma Brighton and Victoria Peterson, J.O. Combs Middle School, San Tan Valley

Thirds place: Marc Duverson and Makai Mallory, Skyline Ranch K-8 School, Queen Creek

Individual Competition

Mathlete of the year: Madison Faulkner, Circle Cross Ranch S.T.E.M. Academy K-8, San Tan Valley

Second place: Julian Soto, Skyline Ranch K-8 School, Queen Creek

Third place: Wyatt Schapp, J.O. Combs Middle School, San Tan Valley

Overall School awards:

First place: Circle Cross Ranch S.T.E.M. Academy K-8, San Tan Valley

Second place: J.O. Combs Middle School, San Tan Valley

Third place: Desert Wind Middle School, Maricopa
