By the numbers: The costs to fuel Scottsdale’s fleet

The city of Scottsdale increased its fuel budget by 45% this past summer — a $1.6 million increase to its former $1.95 million gasoline budget — but a huge spike in fuel prices raise questions of whether it will be enough.

Gas prices across the nation are on the rise, which is having an impact on everyone from consumer drivers to freight haulers.

On Wednesday, March 10, gas prices again set record highs, and diesel broke its former July 2008 record with an average of $5.039 per gallon — a 24.4 cent increase from the day prior.
