Sun City Express first West Valley sponsor

Posted

Sun City resident Art “Karts” Huseonica and his partner, Lauren “Lolo” Sherwood, signed a major sponsor for their delayed Yukon adventure.

The avid hikers concluded a sponsorship deal with Sun City Express, 10487 N. 91st Ave., Peoria, a 24/7 regional transportation company serving West Valley residents. Sun City Express is the first West Valley sponsor for the effort to travel the Yukon River by canoe. The trip was planned this year but had to be delayed one year due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

“We’re so exited to have Sun City Express jump on board the expedition,” said Mr. Huseonica. “Their gracious support is what makes us optimistic about the expedition’s viability.”

Sun City Express has served the community since 1987. In addition to service to Sky Harbor airport, the company offers rides to Mesa Gateway airport and the Amtrak train station in Maricopa.

“We are deeply honored to be able to support Mr. Huseonica and Ms. Sherwood on their incredible adventure in 2021. When we found out that a member of our community was embarking on a 2,000-mile, record-attempt expedition, we felt really excited, humbled and thankful for the opportunity to be a part of it,” Sun City Express officials stated in an email.

One of Mr. Huseonica’s main decision-points for accepting the sponsorship was the fact that he’s used Sun City Express for six years. He was always very satisfied with their communication, accuracy of reservations, safety and reliability. A recent visit to their offices and feedback from a friend’s recent shuttle ride demonstrated a genuine concern for full compliance with Centers for Disease Control guidelines related to COVID-19.

“What Mr. Huseonica and Ms. Sherwood are doing is truly amazing. They’re inspiring all of us to think big, believe in ourselves and go after our dreams,” Sun City Express officials stated.

Mr. Huseonica’s and Ms. Sherwood, a prescott resident, continue to focus on vetting potential sponsors. The addition of Sun City Express brings their total number of sponsors to seven with one charity-of-choice.

As part of its sponsorship, Sun City Express will provide the team transportation to a medical facility in Surprise for a COVID-19 rapid results test before the planned departure from Sun City May 24, 2021 for Sky Harbor with numerous cargo bags full of essential gear.
