A school bus hit a boy while he was riding a bicycle near Valley Vista High School Tuesday morning, according to Surprise police.
Sgt. Tim Klarkowski stated the boy was conscious and alert when officers arrived.
At about 7 a.m., officers responded to a collision near the intersection of Tierra Buena Lane and Reems Road.
Police learned a boy was riding his bicycle when a school bus struck him. Police say the boy was crossing a private driveway used by school buses to access Valley Vista.
The Surprise Fire-Medical Department also responded to the scene and transported the boy to a local area hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
None of the passengers on the school bus were injured, according to police.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation. There are are no traffic delays and the scene of the collision is not located on any of the major roadways in the area.
