The cost of building a home in Phoenix will increase after the Phoenix City Council approved a hike for new construction impact fees within the city limits.
The bump in impact fees — approved on April 9 — will go toward helping pay for a projected $1.6 billion in needed infrastructure over the next 10 years for areas around the city, according to Phoenix officials.
That estimate could change depending on the amount of building that happens over that time. The city would get less money from impact fees if less construction happens, for instance.
