Budgeting for a Head Start

Arizona program spared budget cuts, but more programs benefiting mothers may be on the chopping block

Less than two weeks before Mother’s Day weekend, it was revealed that the budget for a program that provides child care, preschool and other resources for 17,000 Arizona children from low-income families will remain intact — at least for now.

However, officials for the state’s Head Start program remain concerned about funding cuts from the Trump administration and continue to stress the program’s benefits for children and families.

Despite earlier reports the Trump administration planned to completely cut federal funding for Head Start, Arizona Head Start programs announced April 28 they had received word their federal funding for the next year would be released.
