Buckeye's Festival Ranch could gain grocery store near Surprise

City hasn’t made Safeway project official yet

After years of waiting for basic retail services, residents of north Buckeye’s Festival Ranch community may soon get their first grocery store as a proposed shopping center moves closer to reality.

Marketing materials for the proposed Festival Ranch Marketplace describe a 114,000-square-foot shopping center at the northeast corner of Sun Valley Parkway and Canyon Springs Boulevard. The development would be anchored by a Safeway grocery store and include space for retail, restaurants and service businesses.

Located along Sun Valley Parkway near the White Tank Mountains, Festival Ranch has experienced significant residential growth in recent years. However, commercial development has lagged behind, leaving residents with limited options for groceries, restaurants and other services.
