Buckeye Principal surprised with $25,000 educator award

On Friday afternoon a Buckeye Elementary School District principal received a surprise of a lifetime with an unrestricted $25,000 educator award.

At a seemingly normal school assembly, Milken Educator Awards Senior Vice President Dr. Jane Foley and Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Horne recognized Megan Brown for her work for being a model for the state and nation.

The event took place in the school’s gym where no one except the Department of Education and Foley knew about the award being given out. Horne took the stage to congratulate the school in transforming from failing school into a B-rated school.
