The Buckeye Police Department is asking the public for help as it investigates the death of a 60-year-old man whose body was found last week at the Southwest Regional Landfill.
Shawn Woodruff’s body was among refuse that had been delivered to the landfill on April 10.
“This particular area of the landfill receives refuse from multiple transfer stations throughout the Valley, so it is unclear where the body came from,” police stated in a release.
Woodruff’s body did not show obvious signs of how he died, and authorities said an analysis by the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office is ongoing.
Woodruff was known as “Short Dog,” did not have permanent housing and was known to most recently frequent areas around SR 51 and Thomas Road in Phoenix, police said.
Anyone with information on his last known whereabouts and activities should call the Buckeye Police tip line at 623-349-6411 or submit a tip online at www.buckeyeaz.gov/crimetip
