Buckeye man killed wife over threat of divorce, police say

A Buckeye man who killed his wife told police he did so over a divorce threat.

Court documents say 54-year-old Hercelyn Robert Mayo, who shot and killed his wife on Tuesday morning is claiming self-defense for the shooting of his wife.

The shooting occurred during the early morning hours of Jan. 17 near Verrado Way and Yuma Road. Mayo then reported walked into a Buckeye Police Station nearly 45 minutes after shooting the shooting.
