Work has officially started on the highly anticipated Buc-ee's travel center on Bullard Avenue just south of the Interstate 10.
The Goodyear location is one of Buc-ee's first stores in Arizona. The initial construction phase includes clearing the site for future utility work.
"We are currently in the early grading phase,” said Buc-ee’s Director of Construction Scott Ray. “Once we have completed that then we’ll start to put utilities in.”
The new travel center will span about 74,000 square feet, about 23% larger than a football field. It is expected to create more than 200 full-time jobs, with benefits, and attract visitors from across the state and beyond.
“Buc-ee’s is not your traditional gas station,” Ray said. “We are designed for travelers so we want to be right off the freeway for those traveling so that they can pull in and get the best experience they’ve ever had.”
The Goodyear location will include 120 fueling stations, homemade barbecue and fudge, and a wide selection of its popular Beaver Nuggets and famous “wall of beef jerky.” The company often sources its products from local vendors and artisans to represent the local community.
With construction underway, Buc-ee’s expects to open the new Goodyear location by the end of 2025.
The travel center is anticipated to generate revenue for Goodyear, contributing to the city’s General Fund to support key services like public safety and parks.
