Broadway comes to Wickenburg in a one-night-only concert

Posted

Tony-nominated vocalist Norm Lewis and music director and pianist Seth Rudetsky take centerstage at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1 at the Del E. Webb Center for the Performing Arts, 1090 S. Vulture Mine Road.

The evening will be filled with iconic songs that have defined Lewis’s musical theater career over the past two decades.

There will be renditions from his Tony-nominated role as Porgy in “Porgy and Bess” and his portrayal as the first African-American Phantom in “Phantom of the Opera.”

A hallmark of this concert is its spontaneity. Adding an element of surprise and authenticity to the show will be the improvisational nature of the performance; Rudetsky and Lewis’s show is never fully scripted.

As a special touch, Rudetsky, who played a pivotal role in Lewis’s early career, will coax Lewis into recreating his audition from their shared early days in New York City.

Lewis will also revisit his role as Javert in “Les Misérables” and deliver some holiday cheer with selections from his Christmas album.

Tickets for this event start at $52 for adults and $5 for students 18 years and younger.
