Goodyear’s Saddle Mountain Brewing Co. brought home a Bronze medal from the competitive 2025 Great American Beer Festival hosted in Denver.
The national award was given to the brewery’s Clan-Destine Scottish Ale in the Scottish-Style Ale category, which saw 31 unique entries.
This win is significant for the West Valley brewery, as the team announced the Bronze cements Clan-Destine as the most awarded GABF beer in Arizona history.
Brewer Anthony Worthy celebrated the achievement, which marks a “hat trick” of major awards for the brew this year, including a Gold at the U.S. Open Beer Championship and Gold or Best in Show at the Arizona Craft Beer Awards.
“It’s not just me, it’s the whole team, it’s the community, it’s the customers that come in. We do it for them,” Worthy stated.
The GABF, hosted by the Brewers Association, is recognized as the world’s largest and most prestigious professional beer and cider competition. The 2025 event showcased a variety of work:
8,315 beer and cider entries were judged.
1,555 breweries and cideries from all 50 states participated.
250 expert judges evaluated submissions over seven days.
Overall, 273 breweries and cideries were awarded a total of 347 medals.
“I’m proud of my team. Wins like this elevate the craft beer scene in the West Valley,” stated Laura Hansen, Saddle Mountain Brewing Co. owner. “Congrats to all the other Arizona breweries taking home medals, we can’t wait to try your brews.”
The competition’s director, Chris Williams of the Brewers Association, stated the heavy participation makes medaling difficult.
“Year after year, the Great American Beer Festival sets the bar for American brewing,” Williams stated. “With 347 winners this year, these medals honor the talent, dedication, and creativity of our nation’s brewers and cidermakers… You should be proud to know that you’re taking home one of the most competitive accolades in the world.”
