Breen: America’s top earners should pay their fair share
We read about the staff burnout in our area hospitals and the trend for many of them to leave their field. I assume that many of them are the low-paid medical assistants who do the bulk of the care for the patients.
We also see the lack of staff in our restaurants, supermarkets and other service industries.

Yes, we paid homage to them during the height of the pandemic. They are called heroes. Some of the hospital workers are even subjected to the threats and taunts of the anti-vaxers in and outside of their hospitals. The latter group obviously having extensive knowledge and training in the field of epidemiology!.
How about ”showing the money“ to these historically underpaid “have-nots” by federally mandating a minimum wage of $15 an hour, at the very least.
Finally, if Republicans could suspend looking through their myopic lenses, they would see the benefits that would accrue through Biden’s Build Back Better America, especially for America’s working class. If we can spend $8 trillion since 9/11 and 900,000 lives lost (Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs), the price tag for the above proposed legislation is a bargain.
Isn’t it about time we ask the “one per centers” and corporate American giants to pay their fair share so that America can truly be great again?
