Brass band from Glendale's German sister city to bring sounds to local Oktoberfest

Ready to party for Oktoberfest? Like, really party Oktoberfest-style? Glendale’s sister city from Germany is bringing authentic music to the scene this month.

The annual Fischertag, or “Fisherman’s Day,” seen here in 2023, is a tradition said to date back to the 16th century and showcases more than 1,000 “fishermen” with nets who jump into the stream that runs through the Bavarian town to catch trout.

Some visitors to the West Valley this month will feel very at home.

Glendale will welcome to town representatives from its sister city Memmingen, Germany for the most perfect reason. The Kick Off to Oktoberfest party on Friday, Sept. 19, at the Glendale Civic Center will include a 22-piece Bavarian Brass Band from Memmingen.
