Boyer-led bill for firefighter benefits makes way to Ducey

The Arizona House of Representatives advanced Senate Bill 1451 introduced by Senator Paul Boyer, R-Glendale, District 20, on April 7 and designed to make it easier for firefighters to qualify for coverage under a cancer presumption.

It passed the House by a 51-7 vote. The bill previously had been advanced by the Senate with a 22-8 vote in February, and now makes its way to Gov. Doug Ducey.

“A huge thank you to the House for voting on my firefighter cancer bill that we’ve been working on for 6 years,” Sen. Boyer tweeted on Wednesday.
