A 6-year-old boy is dead after being found in water surrounding Lakeview at Superstition Springs, Mesa police said.

The boy was pronounced dead at a hospital after he was pulled from the water just after 1 p.m. June 11 at the apartment complex located at 1849 S. Power Road, according to a Mesa Police Department release.

The child was pulled from the water, and a bystander began administering life-saving measures until Mesa Fire and Medical personnel arrived.

Mesa police said investigators are working to determine the circumstance “surrounding this heartbreaking incident.

“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family during this immensely challenging time.”

It was the 10th drowning incident in Mesa this year and the fourth fatality.
