A 16-year-old is facing second-degree murder charges as the suspect in a killing that occurred at an apartment complex in the 4000 block of West Camelback Road, Phoenix police said Tuesday.
Homicide detectives arrested the boy after finding him hiding in an apartment at the same complex where the shooting happened, police said.
Patrol officers responded after Marquise Maston, 32, was found suffering from a gunshot wound in a parking lot. Maston was taken to a hospital where his condition went from stable to critical before dying from gunshot wounds, according to a Phoenix Police Department release.
The suspect was booked into the Juvenile Corrections Center, and an investigation is continuing, police said.
