Book by Scottsdale icon gives a peek 'Behind the Scenes'

Scottsdale icon Jim Bruner has been a city council member, a Maricopa County supervisor and, to hear him tell it, he could have been a U.S. Congressman if it wasn’t for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

As a county supervisor, Bruner says he was the deciding vote to create a quarter-cent sales tax to fund a stadium for the Diamondbacks in February 1994.

It was an unpopular move at the time and it came a month before he resigned his position to run for Congress.
