Bond back on November ballot in Surprise

Voters to decide transportation, public safety projects

Not long after projects from the last general obligation bond were completed, the city of Surprise is going to ask voters to approve more money for transportation and public safety.

That could mean relief for residents in the northern Asante area, where 163rd Avenue has been a growing problem the last few years.

The Surprise City Council on May 16 voted unanimously to approve putting two bond questions on the Nov. 7 ballot. A passage of either question would extend the secondary property tax homeowners have been paying since the passage of the 2017 general obligation bond that also improved roads and brought a few public safety facilities.
