The body of a 68-year-old man was found Tuesday in the desert one week after family members said they last saw him, Buckeye police said.

Richard Guy was reportedly last seen at his Buckeye home on Monday, Aug. 18. His family contacted police on Thursday, Aug. 21, to report him missing.

A search began and, on Aug. 25, Guy’s car was found at a private lot near Miller Road and Sunrise Drive, police said.

Buckeye police started a search of the area using off-road vehicles, drones and cadaver dogs. A Silver Alert was activated.

The search resumed Tuesday morning and before 6:30 a.m. Guy’s body was found in the desert about 200 yards away from his car, police said, adding the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death.
