Authorities have identified the man whose body was found in a rock quarry near 15th Avenue and Broadway Road as 45-year-old Marcus Freiberger.

Freiberger was reported missing on March 14. A search for Freiberger included entering his name into the state and national database as a missing person, an investigation by the Phoenix Police Department’s missing person’s detail and working with his family and friends, according to a release.

On March 19, Phoenix officers responded to a call at the quarry where a body was found. The Medical Examiner’s Office identified the body as Freiberger, police said.

Freiberger’s case is being handled as a death investigation and is pending further results from the Office of the Medical Examiner.

Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance for anyone who has knowledge regarding the circumstances of Freiberger’s disappearance and death. Witnesses are encouraged to call CrimeStop at 602-262-6151, or Silent Witness if they wish to remain anonymous at (480) WITNESS.
