Body of girl missing from Mesa identified, homicide investigation underway

A homicide investigation is underway after the body of a girl reported missing by the Mesa Police Department was found and identified, authorities said.

The remains of Emily Pike, a 14-year-old from the San Carlos Apache Tribe, were found off U.S. Highway 60 North milepost 277, according to a release from the Gila County Sheriff’s Office.

The girl was reported missing in January by the Mesa Police Department, her remains were found on Feb. 14 and she was identified on Feb. 27.

GCSO is working with law enforcement agencies as the homicide investigation continues.
