Bobbye Nell Selbo, passed away to a better life on April 13, 2017. Born Bobbye Nell Whitworth, July 29, 1930, in Munday, TX; to Donovan Whitworth and Mary Whitworth (Gaines), she grew up on a small cotton farm with brothers Richard and Donovan, and sister, Patsy. She attended and graduated from Munday public schools.Bobbye attended and graduated from Hardin-Simmons University, Abilene, TX; where she met her future husband and love of her life forever, Glen Selbo, and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education. Bobbye was the first from her family to attain a college degree, working multiple jobs throughout college to put herself through.Bobbye and Glen had three children, Brenda (Selbo) Cox, Ron Selbo, and Tryg Selbo. They lived in Midland, TX; from 1954-1962.In 1962, the family moved to Littleton, CO; where Bobbye and Glen continued their careers in teaching and raised their three children. Bobbye continued her education and received a Master's Degree in Physiology from Denver University.In 1985 she retired from teaching, and moved with her husband to Sun City West, AZ; where her years of work had enabled her and Glen to build and furnish their dream home, and where she would live the rest of her life.Bobbye had many interests, including cooking, swimming, sewing, playing card games, playing and watching sports, reading, and spending time with her immediate and extended family and lifelong friends. She loved to travel, and spent many vacations with her friend, Jane, in Spain, and with her friend, Leone, in Wisconsin. She had an especially fond relationship with her nephew, John, and his wife Burnie. Bobbye will be remembered for her intelligence, fierce determination, sharp wit, kindness, strong opinions, high ethical standards, earning everything she achieved in life, and the support of progressive causes of civil rights, women's rights, environmental protection, the plight of the poor and working people, and children's causes. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. But most of all, she will be remembered for the love and generosity she bestowed.Bobbye is survived by daughter, Brenda Cox (Jim), and sons Ron (Mary) and Tryg, three grandchildren, J.C., Summer, and Sean, and 4 great-grandchildren, Kaden, Grace, Whit, and Griffin. Bobbye was laid to rest at Veteran's Memorial Cemetery beside her husband, Glen, who she missed terribly. Her family takes comfort in knowing that they will be together in heaven forever.
